Leadership Development Programme
The Wishford Leadership Development Programme is designed to give participants exposure to a wide variety of different experiences and scenarios which they will face as School Leaders. It prepares for the role of headship and offers the opportunity to build knowledge and experience on the way.
The programme aims to draw on the significant collective experience within the group to help develop aspiring leaders.
The programme is not a substitute for an NPQH or Masters in Education qualification. The modules are grounded in academic theory and are research and Wishford based. They aim to offer a very practical approach to developing the skills and experiences required for successful leadership.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The programme is designed to be suitable for any member of the group who feels they could benefit, but in particular it is designed to support:
- Those in the early years of their first Headship;
- Candidates who are preparing to take up their first Headship; and
- Aspiring future leaders working their way up the career ladder.
HOW IS THE PROGRAMME STRUCTURED?
The programme is structured in a number of modules, each covering a separate aspect of the role of the Head. Participants in the programme can choose to undertake one or all of the modules.
Each module includes reading, reflection and a number of tasks to complete. The amount of time each module takes varies depending on the candidate’s level of experience, the size of the sample used and other factors. They take between one and three days to complete.
