Heywood Prep is a friendly, caring prep school and nursery for boys and girls aged two to eleven. Set in two acres of grounds in the centre of Corsham, Wiltshire, the school is housed in a Georgian manor house and the town's former fire station. The majority of the children go on to local senior independent schools, many winning scholarships, while others secure places in the county’s most highly regarded state schools.
Since acquiring the school, Wishford Schools has appointed a new Headmaster, Guy Barrett, and Deputy Head, Rebecca Mitchell. In addition, specialist teaching staff have been appointed in the fields of Computer Science, Mathematics, Music and Learning Support. Wishford has invested extensively to refurbish large parts of the school, upgraded IT facilities, installed a new library, updated classroom resources and improved the provision of sport, through the appointment of specialise sports coaches.
Pupils and parents are delighted and there is a real buzz about the school, which has been reflected in a marked increase in pupil numbers.
In June 2014, the school was inspected by ISI, who reported that: "Heywood Prep is a welcoming, friendly and open community. As a result, of feeling safe and well looked after, pupils thrive and challenge themselves to reach their full potential."
